Lake Keowee, South Carolina

Lake Keowee is a 18,372-acre man-made reservoir in South Carolina, created in 1971 by the Keowee Dam to cool Duke Energy’s Oconee Nuclear Generating Station and for hydropower. Known for its clear, clean waters and pristine swimming, it offers abundant recreational activities like boating, sailing, fishing, and kayaking. It is approximately 26 miles long, 3 miles wide, with an average depth of 54 feet.
